Tribulus Terrestris Extract Benefits

Benefits of Tribulues Terrestris

Tribulus Terrestris extract is one of the most popular compounds found in male enhancement supplements. In fact, it is so popular that it is found in probably over 90% of the products I have tried, and has been used for thousands of years to help aid in low libido issues. But what is this substance, and how do we REALLY know that it works? This article is intended to give you a brief history of the plant, how it works, potential side effects, and more.

A Brief History of Tribulus Terrestris

tribulus terrestrisDiscovered over 900 years ago, the Tribulus plant is part of the Zygophyllaceae family, and is primarily found in southern Europe and in tropical areas. It is actually also found in the United States, although it is less common here. Because of it’s invasive nature, Tribulus is also known by several less-than favorable names, including devils weed and devils eyelashes. This is also due to the fact that there are several large spikes located around the outside of the plant, which can be extremely painful if stepped on barefoot.

Tribulus Terrestris started to gain some notoriety when bodybuilding champion Jeffrey Petermann popularized its supposed muscle building properties in the late 1970’s. Due to his support, demand for the extract soared, and there has been no shortage of companies that have been selling it since.

Their have been a number of controversial studies that have been conducted over the years concerning the use of Tribulus Terrestris to help boost testosterone levels, which is the biggest claim made by companies touting the product. I say controversial because while some studies (especially in Animals) suggest that testosterone levels are indeed raised, others suggest it is nothing more than a placebo effect.

How Does Tribulus Terrestris Work?

Without getting into the boring scientific details too much, Tribulus Terrestris basically works by releasing a hormone, which in turn produces testosterone. Anyone who knows anything about Testosterone knows that when you have alot of it, you are generally more aggressive, have a stronger libido, and your energy levels can be through the roof. However, low testosterone levels (which are attributed to about 50 million American Men), can cause awful side effects, including lethargy, decreased sex drive, and overall “blah” lifestyle.

This increased testosterone production also results in a synthesis of animal protein, which in turn “Feeds” the muscles during the repair stages. This essentially helps with faster recovery times, and is also thought to increase strength.

Potential Side Effects of Tribulus Terrestris

The only potential side effect of Tribulus Terrestris that was noted by leading resources was upset stomach, which I have never personally experienced when using products containing the herb. However, some reviews of products suggest that abrupt cessation of Tribulus Terrestris may cause heart palpitations and arrhythmia. While this has not been confirmed in a clinical setting, there is anecdotal evidence that this may be the case.

My Experiences With Tribulus Terrestris

I have taken ALOT of products that contain Tribulus, but have never taken it straight up. Usually, the substance is mixed in with several other known aphrodisiacs like ginseng, horny goat weed, Muira Puama, and Avena syrup, so the immediate effects are less noticeable.

I have also not received any negative side effects that seemed to be rooted in Tribulus. Never had an upset stomach, never had a headache from it, nothing. One other thing I wanted to note was that I did read a few reviews from guys that said they experienced a rash from taking Tribulus, but that is in no way indicative evidence that the plant was the cause.

Products That Contain Tribulus Terrestris

My Top T Booster Choice – Testofuel

testofuelI have tried dozens of supposed all natural testerone boosters, and most of them just plain suck.

It’s refreshing to finally come across one thatACTUALLY works for a change.

I recently got a chance to test out a 3 month supply of Testofuel, and my results were awesome.

As I stated earlier, there are literally thousands of male enhancement products that contain Tribulus terrestris, but many of them are ineffective (or at least they were when I tried them). Here is a short list of products that contain Tribulus that DID work:

Nitrocut  – Has about 20% of Tribulus in it’s formula, and really did help give me dramatic energy for the gym.

Sinrex – While not my number 1 male enhancement supplement, Sinrex did help to increase my overall sexual intensity as well as stimulation.

X Rock For Men – While X Rock contains many other ingredients, the formulation does include tribulus terrestris, and it worked great. No side effects either!

Products with Tribulus that didn’t work for me:

Top Dogg – Contains, among other ingredients, horny goat weed, which was discovered by an anchient Chinese goat herder that noticed his flock got horny from eating the weed. Hence the name, Horny Goat Weed!

Magnum Plus – Another free trial program, Magnum Plus simply did not work for me, and it contains Tribulus.
