The Causes of Premature Ejaculation – And What You Can Do About It!
Premature Ejaculation. It ruins the confidence of millions of men’s lives worldwide everyday. There’s no doubt that every guy has experienced it at one time or another, but unfortunately some guys suffer from it on a consistent basis.
Most of the guys that come to this site are looking to make their penises bigger, but every once in awhile I get questions from guys asking me what they can do about this debilitating problem.
In order to properly diagnose and potentially treat this problem, you need to understand it’s causes before taking any drastic actions. It may be something as simple as stopping a medication, or in some cases, something far worse.
Premature Ejaculation – Defined
Believe it or not, the average time of a sexual encounter (from sticking it in, to climax) is about 6 1/2 minutes, so your friend that tells you him and his girlfriend were going at it for an hour and a half is probably lying to you. While there is no specific criteria set, most urologists have concluded that Premature Ejaculation is defined as sexual intercourse that leads to full orgasm in 2 minutes or less.
I think we can all pretty much agree with that definition, especially since given the fact that on average it takes a woman the same amount of time to reach climax. HOWEVER, women have to be specifically stimulated in JUST THE RIGHT SPOT in order to achieve a full orgasm, while guys like us can just hump away and be done quick. Some say it isn’t fair, but it’s the truth.
The Causes of Premature Ejaculation
So what causes this annoying and embarrassing ailment? Believe it or not, this question has been boggling Scientists and physicians for years, and there really is no easy answer. Generally speaking, there are 2 different underlying causes of premature ejaculation: physchological factors and physical factors.
As far as physchological factors are concerned, there are a number of issues that cause it, including:
- Lack of emotional intimacy with your partner (don’t care if they orgasm or not)
- Depression (caused by Financial, work-related, or outside stress)
- Overall Lack of Confidence
- Unrealistic expectations of performance
Another very interesting side note to this is that researchers believe that if you have sex sparingly, it may be your body’s inherent response to ejaculate quicker than normal. Scientists studying chimpazees noticed that those lower in the hierarchy of the group generally were presented with less opportunities for sexual intercourse, giving these lowly chimps the inability to pass on their genes.
When presented with an opportunity to mate (think one night stand for chimps),the chimps of the “lower class” tended to ejaculate much more quickly, probably due to the limited time they would be able to impregnate the female chimp. Thus, if they ejaculated quickly enough, they would have a chance at passing on their genes through the female chimp. You gotta love science….
The physical factors that contribute to premature ejaculation include:
- Low Serotonin levels
- Genetics
It is though that low levels of Seratonin have a direct influence on premature ejaculation, and has actually been proven in clinical studies on animals. Genetically speaking, if you had a first relative that suffered from lifelong premature ejaculation problems, than you have a 80% chance or better that you will also suffer the same fate. Thanks dad!
Treatment For Physical Factors of Premature Ejaculation
Physical factors of premature ejaculation are often the easiest to treat. Most times it takes a small change in your lifestyle, such as a better diet, more exercise, and better quality sleep. However, sometimes it is not so easy, and it is essential to look intoalternative and pharmaceutical therapies to treat the problem.
The use of Anti Depressants
If it is a low seratonin problem, the best thing you can do is to take a anti-depressant therapy. Currently, the only pharmaceutical medication that has been developed and approved for use is called Depoxetine, which is an SSRI. Unfortunately though, it is still not available for sale in the US, and is currently undergoing clinical trials. Keep checking back on our Pharmaceutical Updates page for details on the study and it’s anticipated finish date.
There are several very effective herbal anti-anxiety supplements that have been tested by us and show good results. One product, Prosolution Plus, uses alternative herbs and extracts that act to increase dopamine levels naturally. It is side effect free (as far as we know), and is taken orally everyday over a period of a few months for the best results.
Creams, Gels, and Ointments
There are various different desensitizing creams available on the market, and many of them show some promise. For instance, a cream called Enlast has been a favorite amongst men and has proven to work effectively when used over a prolonged period of time.
Enlast works by desensitizing the penis through the use of an ingredient called Benzocaine, which works as a mild anesthetic, essentially dulling the nerve endings somewhat in the penis. This allows for a prolonged sexual experience, and is a very convenient and side effect free method of treating premature ejaculation.
Treatments For Physcological Factors
As mentioned earlier, several pyschological factors play heavily on a mans ability to ejaculate normally, and one way to fix this is by visiting a sex therapist. They can assist you with various simple techniques you can use to eradicate your problem, or at the very least, lessen it.
The “Think About Something Else” Method
This is, of course, the easiest and cheapest way to stop yourself from premature ejaculation. You simply need to think about something else during sex!Unfortunately, this is not always easy, and sometimes it actually backfires because you end up thinking about something that turns you on even more, causing you to blow your load early.
Conclusion
There are alot of guys that suffer from premature ejaculation, so you shouldn’t feel like you are the only one! Luckily, there are some very non-invasive treatment options that you can use to help you lessen the effects of it, or in some cases, completely get rid of it.
